Judie's Food For Thought

(The following thoughts are Judie's and do not necessarily represent the views of The Eagle's Eye.)

Excuse me for my ignorance, but a State Rep. is an elected official by the people to represent them as a whole, correct?
As least this is what I grew up believing all of my life. This morning as I was drinking my coffee, an interview took place between the media and a Florida Senator.
The interview was re: the Cuban boy that was rescued from the ocean.
When asked this question by the media:
Polls show that the majority of the people in the country believe that the boy should be returned to Cuba, how do you respond to that?

Senator response: (What does that have to do with anything?)

I was livid!! First of all, who the hell is this guy to fight for anyone that is not a citizen in this country and use taxpayer money in the process.
Second: What happened to all the other refugees who were pulled from the water?
My guess is that they will shipped back to Cuba. This means that if the mother had survived, she and the boy would be on the same boat back!
Third: Since when does the public voice not count where political issues are concerned!
I feel sorry for the little boy, I mean he lost his mother and I am sure it was a horrible experience for him, but when are we going to start saying NO!
We are already dealing with the Mexicans who come here illegally in droves every day! I'm so sick of this!

If you have different views concerning this issue please feel free to share them with me.

During a neighborhood party, I got into an argument with my neighbor about presidential politics. Finally, he asked me why I was such a dedicated Republican. I told him that my father and grandfather were Republicans before me and that I was carrying on the family tradition. "That's it?" said my exasperated neighbor. "What if your father and grandfather had been horse thieves?" "Well..." I replied, "I suppose then I'd be a Democrat like you."
