For many years people would ask me if I was on the internet or do we have a
website ? As a long time TV and radio person I did not immediately take
their advice. In June 1998 I decided we would try the internet out and see
what happens. At first it was fascinating ( a new toy ) but within 6 months I
began to realize it's capabilities. Don't get me wrong I am still an advocate
for radio,
television, print and any other media, etc. however, the internet has it's
role.
Currently in America there are 50 million households who have access to the
internet. That is more than any radio host in the nation and as big as the
major television networks. This translates to alot of potential if packaged
right.
Consider this, never in the history of the world could mankind communicate
worldwide as with the net. A simple E mail can reach Africa or Asia in five
minutes or less. Real Audio, WinAmp, Windows Media. Commandcast, etc. make it
possible
to conduct live talk programs. Webcasting from your home with as little as
a $1000 investment is now possible. Exciting as all of this the technology is
changing and advancing daily. In an era of managed and controlled media, this
free speech medium and potential reach is like the printing press during the
American Revolution but only more.
Of course people reading this on the internet have a good understanding of
it's value, however there are many people who like I was for several years
resistant to jump into this powerful medium. Let's hope and pray this
changes for them as it did for me.
God Bless All,
