"Fear and big guns may be an acceptable way to herd cows, but it is a hell of a way to govern people."

RICH'S RANTS

What's new? The raid in Miami. They brought 30 more troops with them than to the initial raid at Mount Carmel where they knew their targets were armed. They have obviously learned the wrong lessons from that experience! The feds requested a blackout of the raid, and the 3 major networks willingly complied. Thank the gods for FOX News, or they'd still be denying it took place. Further, they admit their plan was not executed flawlessly, because a cameraman who was supposed to be neutralized jumped a fence and got into Elian's bedroom to snap Pulitzer Prize pic of the jack booted thugs, who get their feelings hurt when anyone makes the obvious connection(s).

Over powering force, that's what's called for, they say. Well, in military situations, I agree, but there's something to be said for reasoned thought too. What if "the fisherman" went for his wallet, would we have such a "successful" raid then? What if someone went for the raider's machine gun trying to defend the 6-year-old Cuban? What if he got it, and then turned it on the other attackers? I swear, Janet Reno could screw up a wet dream.

When questioned about the foul language raiders use, or their other personal flaws such as "mooning" the Davidian women, it's always treated matter of factly: you've got to overlook that because they get all "pumped up." Well, if it isn't plain crazy to trust someone who gets "all pumped up" with an assault weapon and hope he does the right thing, I don't know what is. We need cops with a lot better temperament. These guys should be sent to anger management classes and then transferred to the sanitation bureau.

Do you know what you do when someone pulls even a normal sized gun on you? You dirty your pants. Don't tell me it's possible to go into a home with a loaded assault weapon and do no harm. I'm sure it sealed any thought Miguel might have entertained about settling in this country.

When we lived in Mesquite, we once saw some cops dressed as Ninja with guns like that. We assumed there was a bank hold up, or perhaps a hostage situation. The next day, we scoured the newspaper and listened to the local TV news, but nothing appeared. Now, with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, maybe it was just another state kidnapping they didn't want publicized.

In defense of the adulterous, perjurious, warmonger occupying the WH, let me say, I don't believe he's picking on the anti-Castro Cubans because they constitute a large Republican voting bloc. That's just a plus, however, if they were Rainbow coalition members...

Juan Miguel is being criticized as being a puppet for Fidel Castro. Well, when my daughter was acting-out, I would have sold my soul to have allies like Fidel Castro, Clinton and Senator Bob Smith. The timing, 5 AM was a good time (ask any thief in the night), but Sunday morning is the exact wrong time to catch a preacher alone without his flock.

Question. If it is so important that Elian be kept in this country, rather than face the harshness of his native island, why are we allowing his baby half-brother to return? And why are we refusing to give visas to his first grade classmates so we can grant them asylum?

I still believe my original premises that our actions are dictated by a need to normalize relations with Cuba, before Cuba normalizes relations with it's neighbor living in Panama, Red China. What I don't understand is: what are we waiting for before we discontinue our embargo of food and medicine to Elian and his classmates? An election?

Is it any wonder the govt fears the light of day on these anti-American govt operations. In Waco, they herded the press corps to a location a mile away (for their safety), and when the Davidians hung sheets out the windows which the press could still read, they moved them down the road another mile---for even more safety. At the last natl presidential conventions, paid for by the tax payers of America, they limited broadcast time for the first time, to keep the masses ignorant of the participants and the arguments not filtered thru the mass media. The major networks boycotted this years presidential debates, so voters without cable TV were fed the appropriate politically correct filtered snippets. Freedom of the press is another not-so-funny joke, and its loss is as meaningful as the invalidated 2nd and 4th Amendments.

Point to ponder. One of the Clintons' first executive orders was to kick the press out of the West Wing. The night is the friend of vampires and govts run amok.
