Welcome to the first publication of The Eagle's Eye! I am Katie Libertas
and it is my hope that your experience with us will be enlightening, thought
provoking, and challenging. I, as a patriot, dream of a free society where
a man is rewarded for the merit of his toil and not stripped of it without
trial or recourse. I believe in the inalienable rights given by Providence
and shudder at how those rights are being eroded away by detestable tyranny.
I envision a future for my children and my children's children where liberty
reigns and freedom is not a long ago dream. For this I will write, for this
I will speak, and should the need arise . . . For this I will fight.
We often speak of those patriots of old who won for us a nation: Patrick
Henry, Nathan Hale, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson,
Thomas Paine, Paul Revere . . . and the list goes on, their deeds having
breathed on them a spirit we have honored through history to this day!
Charles V. Willie writes, "By idolizing those whom we honor, we do a
disservice both to them and to ourselves. . . . We fail to recognize that we
could go and do likewise." This is a lofty and worthy goal. I hope we will
all run toward it.
Our staff welcomes and encourages letters to the editor in hopes that
our readers will write, sharing a variety of views and ideas with all who
browse our paper. To this end, we will publish our first Letters to the
Editor page in our next publication. Please feel free to submit your views.
We will publish any views on issues. However, letters containing
profanity, vulgarity, or personal attacks on individuals will NOT be posted.
The editor reserves the right to determine which letters are posted. |
