Of Pimps and Principles

For the third presidential election in a row, the leaders of the Democratic party have placed a yellow-feathered purple fedora atop their heads, laced up silver platform shoes, hopped in a '68 Caddy convertible, and trolled the streets of America for votes. And for the third election in a row, Democrat voters put on their tightest pair of Spandex hot pants, slithered into their trashiest fishnets and tube tops, laid upon a dirty mattress and surrendered their prized liberal standards for pure unadulterated political power.

Rejecting solid liberal principle and embracing Al Gore for president, the Democrat Pimps and Ho's have again won the day.

It's become a trend. Since long before the '92 campaign began, every phase of the Clinton administration has become a political whorehouse, trading their most prized commodity: power. Feminists offered misogynist excuses for Clinton's sexual assaults. NAFTA and GATT were passed with token grumbles from the labor unions. The ACLU didn't say a word when the FBI files were stolen. Even the old- guard Truman and FDR patriots hardly blinked when missile secrets were swapped for illegal campaign bucks. And the compliant press shrugged it all off.

Now, VP Al Gore has apparently continued this sordid record by laundering money from communist spy Maria Hsia through that Buddhist temple. Meanwhile, lapdog Janet Reno again blatantly obstructs justice. Where are the principled liberals? They have been vanquished. The pimps and whores rule. They have sold out everything to keep power.

This primary has been most revealing. Bill Bradley's idealist "Workers of the World, Unite!" faction doesn't know liberalism is dead, persisting in believing socialism will eventually work if we burn enough money in the pit of government inefficiency. In the battle for the heart and soul of the Democratic party, honest Bradley got a mere 25% of the primary vote.

Bill Clinton's "Pimps-And-Ho's" faction held them at bay for 8 years. They know liberalism failed, but sell out to preserve power. They reject the principled Bradley in favor of the corrupt Al Gore. Yet it's easy to understand why. Mondale was honest. He lost. Dukakis was honest. He lost. Clinton lied. He won. That lesson is not lost on the Democrats. Democrats can only win if they lie.

We can laugh at the Bradley's idealists. But give them credit for being principled. Frankly, when we debate them, truth prevails and conservatives win. But it's much harder for conservatives to defeat a corrupt adversary in a battle of principle. And no man is more politically corrupt than Al Gore, who has flipped positions and sold out on almost every issue in existence, whenever it became expedient.

From labor unions to feminists, from black leaders to gay activists, Democrats have sold cherished principles for a quick rush of political power. They have truly evolved into political pimps and whores, which is by no means an attempt to disparage the harlots of the world. After all, with a little strategic soap and water, a whore is as clean as the day she was born. But when today's Democrats embrace Bill Clinton and Al Gore, they show a personal corruption far deeper than the lowest streetwalker.

        And that doesn't wash off.
